Now here's the part where I share the thoughts I wouldn't share if you were paying me. I'm thinking - this is like a fortune cookie, "You are a kind and generous person." How does that help? Most people who seek readings want to know specifics - what exactly is going to happen and when. The truth is, sometimes you can even ask a specific question and get a reading that answers a different question. So you may ask: "Is this the man for me?" And the cards answer - "Get your brakes checked right away." The message that you need sometimes comes through because it is more pertinent than what a person is asking. In Denita's case, she didn't ask anything specific, but still I expected some specificity from the cards. Instead I got a sense of her - a real sense as I was reading I felt as though I was in the presence of a truly beautiful person. I can't say that that happens much, that I get a sense of the person's energy and it dominates the reading.

I would hesitate to tell a paying client, that, though, because that isn't what they paid to hear! They would probably think I was BS-ing them. So I would feel the need to go back over the cards and tease something out, even though it wasn't really the psychic message I had channeled. I think that happens sometimes, readers think - "well I have to tell them something" concrete even if I'm not feeling anything pop out here.

That's why I'm doing this, so I can just read exactly what I see.

It comes down to a matter of reading style. I've found it true for me that I read what's there, and it is often about what we asked, and often it isn't. Sometimes I go into the zone and the details start flying. Other times something else happens. This one was interesting.

Still, I've thought over and over about the meaning of this message, and I think it is this: You have a lot of demands on you because you have so much to offer other people. Your time, your energy, your attention, are all in great demand. From family, from work you do for a living or work you are engaged in for personal reasons, people ask a lot of you. Give of yourself, but don't let it deplete you or you won't be doing anyone any good.

OK I am still seriously unsatisfied with this reading. I can't let it go, and I have a small baby and a million things to do but I keep thinking about this reading over and over. What to do?

Dear newhorizon,

This reading comes out almost like a sentence, so I'll start there.

Leave the past in the past, let go of any need to control your surroundings, and strive for balance. Also, make sure that the efforts you are making, and the work you are doing, are the right kinds of effort and work to get you where you want to be spiritually.

As for the past, I see a man a and a woman, probably family members of yours - your mother and someone who is either a sibling or a younger version of yourself who was a totally different person from who you are now. They are not on your spiritual path, but they still have an effect on you. Honor them and move on.

I see that you already know that true strength is not outer strength but the inner strength necessary to give up the need for outer strength, if that makes sense. The next step for you is to let go of the need to feel that inner strength, and surrender yourself spiritually at the next level.

Balance in all things for you will be a key here. And remember, that you can be doing all of the right things but doing them on the wrong path, if you'll forgive the Zen cliche. For example, I can put all my effort into the housework, the dishes and the laundry and end up with nothing after 10 years but a clean house. If I want a close family, I've got to be strategic about the way I allocate my efforts. I can still do housework, but I should feel not just that I am working hard, but that I am working on the right things. Do you have a clear picture of what spiritual fulfillment would look like for you? Or just what is doesn't look like? Lock on to your vision and move towards it, leaving the past in the past, surrendering attachment to a sense of inner strength, seeking balance in all things, and working towards the right vision.
